No information of NID has been leaked: DG
NID is secure, no information has been leaked from here. Information may be leaked from any of NID's 171 service partners.
Director General of National Identity Card Registration Department AKM Humayun Kabir said this at a press conference on NID security at the Election Commission Secretariat's media center on Saturday afternoon.
He said, due to repeated login, the information may be stored in the cache servers of the service partners, later the information may be leaked from there.
The DG also said that the NID server is not under any threat. The website is not affiliated with NID. NID is a separate site. 171 institutions are connected separately. There is no chance to get crores of data from NID server. Our NID server has no direct association with any other server.
The NID director said that the process of audit has already started on the security issues and action will be taken against those who are responsible.
In response to a question, the Director General said, I will act accordingly if I get the order of the High Court. The direction of the High Court has not come to our attention. We have not received abnormal hits on our site. Our server is not public property, it is the Election Commission's own property. Here no one can write or take anything at will.
In another question, EC’s Squadron Leader Saad said, ‘We are working to ensure NID security. I regularly monitor how many hits are coming. 171 partner services are working securely. After watching the news yesterday, I started working. A site has been found to be vulnerable. We do not cut the head off if you have a headache. We will solve this by ensuring citizen services.’
In the press conference, System Manager Muhammad Ashraf Hossain said that NID's server was not hacked. The servers of the service providers may be hacked. There is no threat to the NID server.
